As you probably know, most of my work is larger than life - bold colours on large 100x100cm canvas. But I like to challenge myself, and this was painted on a much smaller canvas. This was done as a friend had a birthday coming up, and rather than buy something that would come and go quickly, I thought of doing this as a companion piece to another painting of mine that she has. It work out quite well I think. See YouTube to watch the work evolve....
This was an interesting idea. I started this painting over ten years ago, back when I was starting to paint. Still finding my way and style, as I have never been trained and have learned through a combination of observation, imagination, and intuition. Never finished at the time, 'The Light of Spring' was finally complete today, with a stylistic spin to being it up to date with what I do now! Watch the video to see it being re-imagined.
